Manhunt for escaped militant suspect in Singapore

SINGAPORE (AFP) Thu, 28 Feb - An intense manhunt was under way Thursday for the alleged leader of the Jemaah Islamiyah militant network in Singapore following his escape from custody.

Mas Selamat bin Kastari, who was accused of planning to hijack a plane and crash it into Changi Airport in Singapore, escaped Wednesday from the Whitley Road Detention Centre, the home affairs ministry said.

"We confirm that he has not been captured as yet," a spokeswoman told AFP. The ministry said Kastari walks with a limp and was not known to be armed.

A hundred soldiers joined the manhunt early Thursday, local radio station 938Live reported on its website, adding to hundreds of police who have blockaded the area near a wooded park.

Dozens of paramilitary Nepalese Gurkhas from a special Singapore Police contingent were deployed every few metres along roads surrounding the detention centre, near the upscale Raffles Town Club, late Wednesday.

The government apologised for Kastari's escape from the Whitley Road facility, which holds prisoners detained by the Internal Security Department.

"This should never have happened. I'm sorry that it has," Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng told parliament.

Wong said Kastari had been taken from his cell to the family visit room to await his family.

"He asked to go to the toilet, where he escaped," he said.

Despite its compact size and high population density, Singapore has thickly forested nature reserves and water catchment areas that can provide escape routes and hiding places for a fugitive.

Businesses, offices and schools operated normally despite the massive security presence in the area.

The Straits Times reported that border checkpoints had been alerted and plainclothes officers were checking closed-circuit television footage from shops and petrol stations.

The ministry announced in June 2006 that Kastari and four other JI members had been detained under the Internal Security Act, which allows for detention without trial.

Kastari was arrested by Indonesian authorities in East Java in January that year before being handed over to Singapore. Analysts said he would try to flee to Indonesia.

Authorities have blamed JI for a string of attacks across the region, including the 2002 bombings in the Indonesian resort island of Bali, which killed 202 people.

Singapore, a staunch US ally, says it is a top target for extremists.

Officials have said extremists planned to attack a bus carrying Americans to a subway station in 2001, but authorities foiled that attack by arresting 15 people including members of JI.

Damn. The most wanted man of Singapore is on the loose. Of course we Singaporeans have to give a sh*t! What the hell went wrong?! Get him before he leaves Singapore.

What I've learned is, no country is perfect. Problems and challenges will arise for any mankind to face.

Kissing the burning darkness

Currently dating a hot busty single mom in her late 20s. I hope her toddlers like me.

Anyway, I'm just talking crap. Haha!

Ah. Had a great weekend. Well, not really great but they were great moments.

DEAFCON 10

The second gig I went to this year. Had to catch Firebrands and Meza Virs! Tagged along cool friends too. Jaani's little sisters whom thankfully are metalheads, Raden the awesome but funny guitarist from Dark Ulver, and of course extreme metal amigos Clarence and his friends (we meet again! REBORN!! hahaha)! Yeah man.

The highlights!

Tambi-K-Siao and their very entertaining antics, very local, very wacky. Not forgeting their parody black metal song and ah beng stories. The next greatest thing! To be seen to be believed.

Firebrands though started with a weak crowd, there was the wall of death!! Two actually for the day, another with Meza Virs! Me and Raden joined the royal rumble.

My first mosh I had since I could ever remember! A very slippery one due to the papers and party litters on the floor. Raden slipped and fell because of that. Firebrands, please limit your props. Haha. Great music though.

Meza Virs did a whole lot better than at Waking Up The Dead! Else, flawless. Their new song is also powerrr. They didn't screw it at all! Extreme headbanging experience!

Moshing is fun no doubt. Quite addictive.

Sufiyan's guide to moshing for light-heavywighters and rookies(...?!):

1. Be physically fit! Remember the dodgeball lessons you're taught in high school.

2. Estimate the brutalness of the incoming moshpit on scale 1 (lowest. the moshpit you see in the children's show Hi-5) to 10 (highest. brock lesnar, undertaker, kane, dudley boyz, bruce lee, tony jaa etc. is in the pit!). DXO will be around scale 3 to 5.

3. Elbows down. Unless you're trying a kung fu hardcore dance which is anti-social and not recommended.

4. Caution with tall people. Their shoulders would easily get to your face.

5. Jump around. Use your bodyweight.

6. Feel the music too.

7. Don't be too serious. Have fun.

8. Jump back into the pit, even though you flew out 10 feet. The lighter you are, the harder it is to remain in the 'eye of the storm'.

9. A slippery moshpit is quite a bad idea.

10. Know when to stop.

The lowlights

Guns N' Roses wanna-be band Cigarette Sex. Glam revival? I prefer Black Sabbath or old school death/black/thrash metal revival. I hate rockstar attitude.

And if you're the next Gn'r wanna-be clone: be very, very skinny! Have no buttocks at all! Skinny pants! Be Axl! Be Slash! Be american!

Nah, I'm tired of blasphemy. Really.

Sons of northern beach road

After the gig me, Raden, Syazana and her sister headed to beach road. I wanted to buy camo pants. They generously accompanied me, so I treated them lor. Anyway my pockets were kinda heavy after my 22nd pay. Heheh.

Not forgetting to treat and take away some for my family. A nice Saturday indeed. A day so awesome that it inspires to compose the forth song for assault! It's near completion.

Signing out.

A dying child in us all

Yes, we are growing older. Rushing through 18. 19 soon. Time to grow up. Young adults. Raging hormones. But I'm still watching cartoons. Life check:

  • Recently when to Jurong Bird Park with family. Great time. Skipped work.
  • Crush on this girl. Same age. But she's too good for me.
  • My youtube video hits 1,000 views, favorited twice.
  • Trying hard to improve on guitars. Gain some respect for myself because I couldn't play as good as I could compose or appreciate music.
  • Ensisventine disbanded. It's about time. I wouldn't blame me because I'm the true driving force all the while.
  • Listen to good music: As I Lay Dying (Metalcore/Neo-thrash), At the Gates (Melodic Death Metal), 90's Green Day (Pop-punk) and new Amorphis (Modern progressive metal). And yes, Sentenced.
  • Been dancing to music, like the singer from Truth Be Known. Haha.
  • Annoyed by today's alternative music scene. Especially indie. And emo. Turn on to MTV and you'll see ugly bunch of ang moh guys playing weird music, with their British accent. And American kids with wanna-be goth make up. Hip hop and pop? Even worse. I'm tired of dumb music blasphemy too.
Kvlt ducks!! Abbath, Demonaz and Horgh?

At the heart of winter (original)! Hoot!!

Call of the winter owl! Hoot!!

An ocean between us all

Hey, today is 14th of February! Yup. Happy friendship day (as said by children-based tv channels..?). Happiness to the love of all mankind.

Peace be upon you. Peace to the misanthropic world. Peace between sibling rivalry. Peace and love between you two lovers who've been experiencing the rough times.

Peace between emos and metal hardliners? Nah. The emos are just too annoying. Hahaha.

How do I celebrate today?

Nah. Not really celebrating. Just showing some love to my people in da' house by treating them all KFC.

Also went jogging in the evening at the jetty. I'm quite touched that they're a number of families spending quality time there. Good. Let us not celebrate it too traditionally like Christian lovers.

Here's one for the lone rangers and maidens,

"Hear these words I say
Make the most out of your day
for brief is the light on our way
on this momentary trail.

Hear these words, awake
Make the most out of your day
for brief is the time, so brief is the time
that we're allowed to stay."

Bush, in league with Satan.

Another stupid youtube slideshow by me.

Anyways, just had my last day of the school semester. And having a bad tougue ulcer at the moment.

VIDEO INFO:

"In League With Satan", from Venom's debut album "Welcome to Hell"(1981). Later appeared again as the intro track to their compilation album "In League With Satan" (2002).

Video is a basic still image of the compilation album cover, until the chorus (01:04 mins), "evil, in league with Satan" where image changes and depicts George W. Bush in the role of Satan.

Later in the final chorus, shows that BOTH sides Iraq and America do suffer.

Yes, his throne is ending soon.

Opinions? Call us at 1800-INVADE-FOR-OIL.
